Notification of UPSC,number of IAS posts reduced in examination

Union Public Service Commission has issued notification of Civil Services Examination (IAS) 2018. Online applications have started for this.This time only 782 posts have been included in this recruitment. This number of posts is the lowest in the last decade.Shortage of posts has started from 2017. In 2017, the number of posts had decreased to 980, which is 782, with this shortage of 198 posts this year. There was considerable discussion about reducing the age limit of the Civil Services Examination among the contestants. After the notification was released, it has become clear that UPSC has not made any changes in this regard. Age limit is 21 to 32 years.

Due to the shortage of the post, the merit of this biggest test of administrative service is likely to be very high. There were 734 posts in the Civil Services Examination 2007. Although the selection was finally done for 638 posts only. From 2008 to 2009, the number of posts is less than one thousand but more than 2007 In these years, there are 881 and 989 posts respectively. The number of posts from 2010 to 2016 was more than one thousand. The highest number of 1291 posts were in 2014. In 2010, 1043 posts were recruited while in 2011, the number of posts was 1001 with a slight decrease. In 2012, the number of posts increased to 1091 and to 1228 in 2013. In the 2015 recruitment, 1129 and 1079 posts were included.The Civil Services Preparatory Examination will be held on June 3. UPSC had earlier declared the main examination from October 1, but in the last few days, the Commission has announced revising its exam calendar and taking the main exam from September 28. This time the main examination will be the first time in comparison to two years. In 2016, the main exam was held from December 3, 2017 to October 28.
